Barolo, also called the queen among wines! This special wine, we now offer in a 0.375-litre bottle. In other words, a 'half bottle' of wine. Practical, after two to three glasses of wine, the bottle is empty and no complicated storage methods are necessary.
Extracted from the noble Nebbiolo grape grown in the Langhe hills around the municipality of Barolo in southern Piedmont.
Subdued aromas of spices and a hint of red berries emerge from the glass. The palate offers sour cherries, tobacco and clove alongside fine-grained tannins. Ready to drink from 2020.
The colour is pale red with brick red reflections, the aroma is spicy and the taste is broad and dry on the finish. Suitable for game dishes and mature cheeses, served at room temperature and chambreed at least one or two hours prior to drinking, preferably in a wine decanter with a wide opening.
The alcohol content is 14%.
In 2014, truly beautiful Barolo was made through rigorous selection in the vineyards. The 2014 Barolos are now 'to be drunk' . You can enjoy these 2014 Barolos for another 10 years or so. So drink before 2033 ;-)
Why is Barolo so much more expensive than other red wines?
Barolo comes from a small area around the village of the same name in Piedmont and is made from the nebbiolo grape. The harvest is always limited in size, the vineyards in the area are expensive, so is the technology used and the long compulsory maturation in wood, so the wine is expensive relative to many other wines.
